What is SEE project?
The SEE "Smart Energy Community" research project is implemented by the Geography Department of Hong Kong Baptist University and the Asian Energy Studies Centre. The first phase of the research project runs from 2022 to 2024, collaborating with 600 households in four communities in Hong Kong to collect electricity usage data and organize various community engagement activities, aimed at helping Hong Kong achieve its carbon neutrality goal by 2050.
As the research project shows encouraging progress, it will enter its second phase in mid to late 2024, expanding beyond Hong Kong to the city of Bristol in the UK. The research objectives for the second phase are to explore how to expand the smart social learning processes within the smart energy community, fostering sustainable energy-saving habits at home, with a focus on developing community solar energy to achieve overall energy-saving benefits for the community.
