Date: 14 September 2024 & 21 September 2024
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm
Venue: Easton Community Centre & Yate Pop Inn Café
The SEE "Smart Energy Community" research project recently conducted two insightful envisioning workshops in Yate and Easton in Bristol, UK. They are facilitated by Ms. Kiki Cheung, a PhD candidate and research member of the Department of Geography and the Asian Energy Studies Centre of Hong Kong Baptist University. These workshops aimed to envision a low carbon energy future for both communities, allowing participants to examine the current development landscape and imagine potential futures. Various low carbon initiatives that could benefit the neighborhoods were discussed.
The workshops served as a platform to identify barriers to implementing these initiatives and to brainstorm potential solutions. A significant portion of our discussions focused on pathways to achieve net zero targets, prompting participants to consider the level of ambition required to meet these critical goals.
Following a successful phase in Hong Kong, where 600 households engaged in social learning initiatives, the SEE "Smart Energy Community" research aims to bring transformative change to the community in achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
From September 2024 to October 2025, 100 households in the Greater Bristol area will embark on a social learning journey, guided by VISION, APPROACH, and ACTION PLANS.
Participating household may participate a series of free STEM workshops for kids and families and may get up to £80 gift card upon the completion of the learning!
