The National Geography Fun Fair was co-organized by the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong Geographical Association. As one of the supporting organizers of this significant event, the Department of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University was proud to collaborate with esteemed academic institutions, including the Education University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The event showcased a variety of interactive activities, and the Department of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University, the Asian Energy Studies Centre (AESC) hosted a game booth of virtual reality (VR) experience. We provided an immersive tour of the Datong Panda Solar Farm in China to the participants. This experience highlighted significant advancements in solar energy technology and its applications.
In addition, we also presented our self-developed VR game, designed to demonstrate how different proportions of solar panels can influence electricity generation within a community model. This innovative tool not only illustrated sustainable energy development at a national level but also encouraged participants to reflect on their individual contributions and envision a sustainable future with and for our communities.
The fun fair, hosted at Lok Fu Place, aimed to enhance understanding of national geography and showcase the developments and achievements. Through interactive display boards and engaging booth games, the fair sought to foster a sense of national identity and pride among participants. We look forward to future initiatives that continue to promote environmental awareness and action.
